Brooklyn Nets big man Nic Claxton shot a lot of free throws on Monday night as they suffered a deflating sweep at the hands of the Boston Celtics. For his part, the Nets big man was on the wrong end of an embarrassing playoff record after his atrocious night at the free-throw line.

Claxton just shattered a long-standing record set by the great Shaquille O'Neal for missing the most consecutive free throws to start a playoff game. Shaq's record stood at seven straight misses, but Claxton obliterated that on Monday night (h/t Bleacher Report on Twitter):

Claxton missed his first 10 attempts from the line after finally draining one. The 6-foot-11 center ended Monday's loss on 1-of-11 shooting from the stripe.

For what it's worth, the Nets lost to the Celtics by just three points, 111-108. It goes without saying that Claxton's 10 wasted points from the charity stripe would have gone a long way here in terms of staving off an embarrassing first-round sweep for Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, and the rest of the Nets. The Celtics are now the first team to progress to the second round and will face the winner of the Bucks-Bulls series.
