Sean Marks' future as general manager of the Brooklyn Nets remains in question despite reports that he reached an extension amid the Kevin Durant trade drama.

On Friday, several news outlets reported that Marks has agreed to a contract extension with the Nets that would keep him in Brooklyn long-term. Kristian Winfield of the New York Daily News shared that the GM signed the extension “near the beginning of July.”

However, Brian Lewis of the New York Post refuted the claims and noted that Marks has not signed an extension. While that doesn't mean nothing is imminent or both sides are not talking a possible extension, it appears like it's not a priority right now.

Nets Daily corroborated the report, noting that “multiple Nets team insiders denied the story” and said it is “completely false.”

It remains to be seen what will happen to Sean Marks, but it sure is the last on the team's list of worries. They are still navigating through the Kevin Durant trade demand, looking for a potential partner to move the superstar forward. Brooklyn is asking for a massive return for KD, which is why there hasn't been much traction in making a deal despite several teams showing interest.

There is also the Kyrie Irving situation. Should they be able to move Durant, Irving is expected to be traded next. The Los Angeles Lakers have been largely linked with the playmaker, but the list of suitors end at them.

With everything going on, fans shouldn't really expect to hear anything about Marks' deal. In fact, what happens with KD and Kyrie could very well be a major factor in his future with the team.
