Brooklyn Nets guard Spencer Dinwiddie is in hot water after his rather controversial tweet where he’s seemingly hating on Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo.

After Game 5 of the NBA Finals between the Bucks and the Phoenix Suns–which saw Milwaukee take a 3-2 lead–Dinwiddie sent out a tweet asking his followers a “what if” scenario. The Nets veteran asked if Khris Middleton would win Finals MVP if Giannis misses Game 6 due to health and safety protocols (in relation to Thanasis’ situation) and the Bucks went on to win the Larry O’Brien trophy.

Dinwiddie’s question didn’t sit well with fans though, with several people criticizing him for apparently showing hate on Giannis.

While the Nets scorer and playmaker did get a few decent responses, he didn’t escape the scrutiny of fans for his bizarre question. Besides, it’s a shocking question to ask since Giannis Antetokounmpo has been playing so well for the Bucks. In fact, he even joined Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and LeBron James recently for being just the third player in history with at least 150 points, 50 rebounds and  25 assists in the first five games of an NBA Finals.

For his part, Spencer Dinwiddie took it to Twitter again to explain that he is not hating on Giannis. The 28-year-old Nets guard clarified that it is only a Marvel-inspired question and fans should take it too seriously.

Dinwiddie then emphasized that Giannis deserves to win Finals MVP if the Bucks finish the Suns.
