Over the summer, Brooklyn Nets guard Spencer Dinwiddie had a lot of fun at the expense of New York Knicks fans.
After superstars Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving signed with the Nets, Dinwiddie — whether it was on Twitter or in interviews with reporters — kept ripping Knicks fans since they kept bragging about how KD and Irving were going to sign with New York over Brooklyn.
Dinwiddie will likely still roast the Knicks, but the Nets guard says he has no interest trying to get into the minds of their fans:
Both the Nets and Knicks had cap space this summer to sign two max contract players. Brooklyn got Durant, Irving and DeAndre Jordan. New York, meanwhile, didn’t even get a meeting with KD or Kyrie and ended up agreeing to deals with Julius Randle, Bobby Portis, Taj Gibson, Elfrid Payton, Wayne Ellington, Reggie Bullock and Marcus Morris.
The Knicks have been a walking disaster under the ownership of James Dolan. The Nets have officially become the big brother in New York City. The allure of playing in Madison Square Garden isn’t large enough for stars anymore since the Knicks are so dysfunctional.
Dinwiddie has been enjoying ripping the Knickerbockers and that will likely continue over the next four years while Irving and Durant are in Brooklyn. The Nets are going to be title contenders, while the Knicks will be in the lottery.
