Brooklyn Nets guard Spencer Dinwiddie is left befuddled by the initial rating he got from NBA 2K19. For the record, Dinwiddie got labeled by the video game with a 79 rating, which he obviously feels is unacceptable, believing that it’s unfair to get a lower rating from players who haven’t even logged in a single second in an NBA regular season contest.

Dinwiddie, however, was not accurate when he implied that NBA rookies have higher ratings than him. In fact, his grade is just as high as that of the best-rated rookies in the game. Deandre Ayton of the Phoenix Suns and Luka Doncic of the Dallas Mavericks each has a rating of 79. Marvin Bagley III of the Sacramento Kings and Trae Young of the Atlanta Hawks, meanwhile, own a current rating of 78 and 77, respectively.

Going back to Spencer Dinwiddie, he’s coming off the best year of his still nascent NBA career. He played a bigger role for the Nets last season, though, not out of design but because of necessity, as Brooklyn’s backcourt had to endure long stretches of absences from Jeremy Lin and D’Angelo due to injuries. In 80 games played, including 58 starts, the former Colorado Buffalo star put up 12.6 points, pulled down 3.2 rebounds, and dished out 6.6 assists per contest.
