Kevin Durant scorched the New York Knicks in a win for the Brooklyn Nets. He scored 53 points on 19-37 shooting and added nine assists, six rebounds and two steals in the Nets' 110-107 win over their crosstown rivals.

Durant the Knicks have plenty of history together, though much of it is predicated on something that never happened. In 2019, New York was rumored to be the favorite for landing Durant in free agency with one of their two max-contract slots. Durant and Kyrie Irving ended up signing with the Nets instead.

The loss to the Nets at the hands of Durant stings for Knicks fans for multiple reasons. His 53 points against New York are the most that any Nets player has scored against the Knicks in franchise history.

There were tons of reports and rumors about Durant going to the Knicks in the summer of 2019. It was a major NBA storyline but ultimately never played out because New York didn't want to pay him a max contract. Durant ended up in one of NYC's boroughs, Brooklyn, for his next (and current) career chapter.

Durant has been on a tear lately. He issued a statement win over the Philadelphia 76ers and is in contention for the league's scoring title. Although the Nets are just eighth in the Eastern Conference, they have two All-Stars and could still make a playoff run. It's safe to say that he doesn't regret not coming to the Knicks, who are 12th in the conference.
