Washington Wizards head coach Scott Brooks knows Brooklyn Nets superstar small forward Kevin Durant pretty well.
Brooks coached Durant on the Oklahoma City Thunder and knows first-hand how gifted KD is. With that said, the Wizards coach has no doubt the Nets are going to be a nightmare to deal with next season when Durant plays.
A 10-time All-Star and former MVP, Durant has career averages of 27.0 points, 7.1 rebounds and 4.1 assists in 849 games with the Thunder and Golden State Warriors. The future Hall of Famer is one of the best scorers of all time and Nets fans can’t wait to see Durant competing with Kyrie Irving by his side at the Barclays Center next season.
Durant told Toronto Raptors big man Serge Ibaka on his cooking show this past summer that he picked the Nets over the New York Knicks in free agency because Brooklyn was “farther along in the process of being a contender.”
The Nets made the playoffs last season and have a good core and infrastructure. The Knicks, meanwhile, had the worst record in the NBA in 2018-19 and have been a walking disaster under owner James Dolan for years.
Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving and DeAndre Jordan — who are very close friends — each signed four-year deals with the Nets. In fact, KD and Kyrie took less money from the team so Jordan could get a $40 million contract from Brooklyn.
