Brooklyn Nets head coach Steve Nash firmly shut down the idea of trading James Harden just a few days ago, but there continue to be rumbles around the NBA about the possibility of a Harden-Ben Simmons swap. ESPN's Brian Windhorst says there remains “a chance” a Harden-Simmons blockbuster goes down ahead of Thursday's trade deadline, also noting “back-channel conversations and movement by intermediaries” as the Nets and Philadelphia 76ers continue their posturing.

While all that nonsense happens, Windhorst reports Brooklyn is also scouring the trade market to see if there are any takers for injured sharpshooter Joe Harris, who hasn't played since mid-November because of an ankle injury that keeps having setbacks. Harris might not come back this season, and even if he does, there's a good possibility he's not close to 100%.

Harris is an important player for the Nets when healthy thanks to his shooting, but if he's not going to be giving them anything the rest of this season, it makes some sense to look for a trade. With all the questions surrounding the futures of Harden and Irving, Brooklyn wants to go all in on this season, assuming The Beard doesn't actually get traded.

The 30-year-old sniper is in Year 2 of a four-year deal worth up to $75 million. Harris is making over $17 million this season. In 14 games so far in 2021-22, he's shooting 46.6% from 3-point range after leading the league with a 47.5% conversion rate from deep last season.
