Louisiana Tech pass rusher Jaylon Ferguson has encountered quite the tumultuous few weeks after being disinvited and then reinvited to this year's NFL Combine. Leading to such a stretch of time, Ferguson was arrested for fighting during his freshman year at Louisiana Tech while the up-and-coming defender was later convicted of simple battery.

As a result, per league rules, if a player is ever found guilty of either a misdemeanor or a felony involving violence, the player's NFL Combine invite is rescinded.

Nonetheless, Ferguson remains optimistic as he has been projected to come off the board in the early rounds on numerous occasions this offseason. Not only that, but the former Louisiana Tech standout now believes that his NFL Draft stock will only rise going forward.

“Now that I got my name out there more, more people know me,” Ferguson recently told TMZ Sports. “More people heard of me.”

The 23-year-old is supremely talented and will surely get his chance to shine at some point regardless of how this entire situation shakes out.

“Extremely productive edge defender with an NFL-caliber frame that continues to take shape,” reads his NFL.com pre-draft evaluation. “Ferguson plays with good toughness at the point of attack and became a much more disruptive run defender as the season progressed. He appears to have average athletic traits but benefits from an instinctive pass-rush approach. He has experience as an edge linebacker, but his length and build increase the likelihood he'll be targeted as an even-front defensive end with potential to become a good NFL starter.”

The 2019 NFL Draft will begin on Thursday, April 25th in Nashville, Tennessee.
