The Baltimore Ravens released running back Alex Collins earlier this offseason when Collins was arrested in March. Recently, things seemingly got worse for the free-agent running back.
In a recent Instagram post, Collins admitted that he suffered a broken leg two weeks ago. Collins was hoping to work his way back into the NFL but that may have to wait while the running back rehabs his broken leg.
Here's what the Instagram post read:
“Two weeks ago, I broke a bone in my leg and I underwent successful surgery. I refuse to be discouraged. Instead, I have faith and am optimistic about the process. I believe that all that has happened is making me physically and emotionally stronger, and is necessary for me to succeed in life. I have already begun the healing and rehab process, and I fully trust God’s plan for me. I look forward to getting back to playing football and doing what I love most. Thank you for everyone who has supported me. I’ll be back Irish dancing soon.”
Earlier this year, Collins was arrested after he crashed his car into a tree. Police arrived at the scene and searched the car, only to find marijuana and a handgun.
Then, the running back told police he had more marijuana and guns at his house. The police found more of both after searching his house and Collins is now facing charges of intent to distribute marijuana and possession of a firearm during a drug-trafficking crime.
Both charges are felonies and the running back will be in court on July 22nd. His legal issues and his broken leg may make his return to the NFL a tough, uphill climb.
