The NFL has announced that the Buffalo Bills-Cincinnati Bengals game won't be played this week after the terrifying Damar Hamlin injury on Monday night. No replay date has been set and there have been no changes made to the Week 18 schedule.

The NFL said the following in a statement, “After speaking with both teams and NFLPA leadership, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell informed the clubs today that the Bills-Bengals game will not be resumed this week. The NFL has made no decision regarding the possible resumption of the game at a later date. The league has not made any changes to the Week 18 regular season schedule.”

The NFL initially temporarily suspended play after the Damar Hamlin injury, though it quickly became apparent that no football would be played, given the reactions of the players and coaching staff on the field.

While the Bills-Bengals game carries significant implications, there's simply no way the contest can be played while Hamlin's life is at stake.

Damar Hamlin suffered cardiac arrest on the field on Monday night after a collision with Bengals receiver Tee Higgins. Hamlin stood up but quickly collapsed, with training staff from both teams promptly rushing onto the field.

While the hit appeared to be routine in nature, the situation was anything but. Players from the Bills and Bengals were visibly shaken.

An ambulance arrived on the field while CPR was administered on Hamlin before he was taken to the hospital. He was listed as in critical condition and his vitals reportedly were normal.

The Bills tweeted out an update on Tuesday afternoon, stating that Hamlin remained in critical condition at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.

Commissioner Roger Goodell sent a memo reiterating the decision on the Bills-Bengals game while informing teams of mental health and support services available.
