Since the NFL made the decision to implement new rules requiring standing on the field during the playing of the National Anthem, there has been plenty of commentary on the matter. This includes president Donald Trump discussing the change, saying he believes anyone that doesn't stand for the National Anthem should leave the country.

Denver Broncos veteran linebacker Brandon Marshall has chimed in with a response to Trump's strong comments, stating that he disagrees with that stance while voicing this topic should create conversation in the United State rather than lead to that extent of action. “Just because somebody disagrees with something or if I didn’t stand for the anthem or like what’s going on, that’s him saying I should be kicked out of the county,” Marshall said, via Troy Renck of ABC Denver 7. “We’re supposed to talk about things, talk about things, work things through. Everybody’s not going to agree on things, everybody’s not going to have the same opinion on things so just because somebody disagrees or has an issue with something going on in this country doesn’t mean they should pack up and leave.”

Marshall's stance is one that likely many other NFL players share in regards to Trump's comments. The 28-year-old decided to take a knee during the National Anthem for a portion of the 2016 season that also saw many others exercise that same option.

However, the NFL's decision to put in place a new rule to essentially push forth that players must stand if they are on the sidelines could foreseeably lead to more players deciding to stay in the locker room. The league has essentially boxed themselves in the corner with what was a weak compromise to the issue that they have chosen to implement for next season.

Simply put, there should much more to come on this front with the NFL now deciding to take a firm stance on this issue.
