Former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick is still training to get a job on an NFL team. The social activist made waves this week when he surprisingly appeared as the face of a recent Nike ad campaign. He was thought to be too much of a risk to endorse, but Nike took the chance. Kaepernick hasn't played for an NFL team since he played 12 games for the 49ers during the 2016 NFL season.

Denver Broncos linebacker Brandon Marshall says he hasn't given up on playing football. Marshall is one of his close friends and recently spoke with TMZ Sports about his goals for this year. Kaepernick was apparently in high spirits and excited about possible opportunities that could open up this year when he last talked to Marshall.

Multiple videos have surfaced of him working on his throwing with a trainer. There are a few candidates that could make use of his skill set this year. The Buffalo Bills are inexperienced at the position, the New York Giants need a consistent backup for Eli Manning, and the Denver Broncos have three players that will all be actively auditioning for the starting role as the season moves forward.

Kaepernick has big game experience. He nearly led his team back from a 22-point deficit in Super Bowl XLVII, before ultimately losing to the Baltimore Ravens. He completed 16 of 28 passes for 302 yards and one touchdown throw on the biggest stage of all. An additional 62 yards on the ground and a rushing score added to his astonishing performance. He may be a little rusty, but he was one of the best dual-threat quarterbacks in the league with athleticism and solid arm strength.
