There are much fewer players with COVID-19 than originally expected from the Dallas Cowboys and Houston Texans.

When reports came out earlier today that players for both the Cowboys and Texans had tested positive for coronavirus, many feared a large outbreak within each team.  New reports have now shown that only four total players have tested positive between the two teams.  Per a league source, both teams have had two players a piece test positive, including Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliot.

This number could increase through the day as more tests are done. However, this is a good sign which does not put the respective teams' training camps in jeopardy.  A factor that could impact things is the fact that, according to that same source, one of the Texans players who tested positive attended George Floyd's funeral. Which was also attended by multiple other personnel from the Texans organization.

While on the surface this seems like a good sign, the uncertainty of things and the limited supply and speed of the tests could be a big issue through the next days as the teams practice.  The virus could quickly sweep through the locker room, unknown and unseen, and put the opening of the 2020-2021 season in serious jeopardy.

The coronavirus has shut down every team sport in America since the middle of March. While the NFL has continued to persist through everything and not make any indication of delaying or cancelling any football activities this summer or fall, this new development could put the NFL's timetable in jeopardy.  The NFL will have to monitor the situation very closely now.
