Two NFL South teams, the New Orleans Saints and the Atlanta Falcons, have interest in Gerald McCoy according to Jenna Laine of ESPN. According to Laine, the other teams that at least have some sort of interest are the Cincinnati Bengals, New England Patriots, Cleveland Browns and the Indianapolis Colts.

McCoy was a star defensive tackle for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. It's no surprise two NFC South foes have interest. The Saints and Falcons both have Super Bowl aspirations this upcoming season so it would make sense to try and sign a guy with as much talent as McCoy. Heading into the draft both the Falcons and Saints were linked to defensive tackles and the need is still there.

Drew Brees who has worked out with McCoy the last couple of offseasons has put his word in hoping the Saints sign him to a contract.

“He’s a stud, he’s a great player,” Brees grinned. “I mean you’re basically asking me if I would love having a Pro Bowl defensive tackle that I’ve spent the last eight years trying to run around and avoid, not have hit me, join our team. Yeah of course.”

On the Falcons side, they are still looking to sign someone who can line up next to Grady Jarrett who the team placed the franchise tag on.

The one problem the Falcons might have is cap space if McCoy is looking for a big contract. According to documents held by the NFL Players Association via 247 Sports, the Falcons only have $2.3 million in cap space so if he is looking for a big deal they are going to have to clear cap space.
