The Los Angeles Rams and Kansas City Chiefs went through a thrilling Monday Night Football matchup that saw the Rams come out on top, 54-51.

There was plenty of buzz heading into the game that opened up with a record 64 over/under line. The 105 total points scored blew well past that mark and gave Las Vegas a major loss, with a majority of bettors taking the over on the contest, according to Ben Fawkes of ESPN.

Michael Grodsky, spokesperson for William Hill, which has 108 sportsbooks in Nevada, told ESPN the game was a “healthy seven-figure loss” for the book, with 69 percent of customers betting the over.

It was an offensive firework show from both teams. Second-year quarterback Patrick Mahomes demonstrated why he is considered one of the front-runners for the MVP award as he completed 33-of-46 passes for 478 yards with six touchdown passes. This marked the sixth time this season in which he notched four or more touchdown passes, and the second time he reached the six-touchdown mark.

Pro Bowl quarterback Jared Goff more than held his own end of the bargain as he put up his own huge outing by completing 31-of-49 passes for 413 yards with four touchdown passes and one rushing touchdown. Goff led a game-winning touchdown drive in the final few minutes.

There were also some huge plays defensively, with the Rams scoring two defensive touchdowns and the Chiefs chipping in one of their own.

Given the offensive talent between two of the highest-scoring teams in the league, it wasn't a big surprise to see this game blow past the over. There should be plenty more high over/under lines moving forward this season for each club for the rest of the 2018 campaign, and perhaps there will be a rematch at the end of the year in the Super Bowl.
