Christian McCaffrey, Dalvin Cook, Derrick Henry, or Alvin Kamara are considered the best running backs in the NFL by many. When asked about the best running back in the NFL on Adam Schefter's podcast, Najee Harris said that he believes Saquon Barkley of the New York Giants takes the crown.

Harris did preface his opinion by saying when every running back is healthy, Barkley is the best running back in the NFL. Barkley is currently recovering from a torn ACL he suffered early in the 2020 season after he had two consecutive productive seasons to begin his career with the Giants.

In his first two years, Barkley contributed a total of 3,469 yards from scrimmage and 23 total touchdowns. Despite his size at the position, Barkley has shown he's a more than capable wide receiver, hauling in 143 passes in his first two seasons in the league.

As for Harris, the incoming rookie is considered the No. 1 running back available in the 2021 NFL Draft by many. The Alabama product is similar in size to Barkley and proved that he can be an every-down back with his ability to produce in the passing game.

The discussion of who the best running back in the NFL is all about preference and what type of running back you would prefer. Guys like Henry and Nick Chubb are the old-school running backs that deal punishment to defenders in the open field.

On the other hand, McCaffrey, Kamara, Cook, and Barkley are running backs that are dual-threat weapons. With Najee Harris having a choice of any running back, he made it clear that the 24-year-old phenom is his pick at the running back position.
