The NFL might be disgusted after the Pittsburgh Steelers game against the Detroit Lions. This game was ugly, atrocious, and the worst part, it ended in a tie. It's rare for a football game to end in a draw like this, but the fact this game was awful throughout makes it feel much worse.
PFF provides a quick low light of the Steelers giving their chances to win away to the Lions. Pittsburgh was within field goal range, but rookie tight end fumbled the ball, leading to a turnover.

This game has become the butt end of the joke in the NFL. So much, even ESPN is having their fun. The Lions had a chance to win it but missed a field goal. But the overtime possessions were nothing to get excited about.

Nothing says NFL football without a disappointed fan in attendance. This unlucky fellow was seen on live television, visibly upset with the outcome of this matchup.

Furthermore, this game was so bad, that Pro Football Reference points out how rare the late overtime fumble was. That means this Steelers-Lions game was historically bad. This isn't the type of football the NFL wants on the field, as it was just plain ugly.
Pat Freiermuth fumbled the ball with around 10 seconds left in overtime, sealing a tie in the Lions-Steelers game
Our play-by-play data goes back to 1994. This the first time in that span that a turnover happened with under 30 seconds remaining in OT https://t.co/NgFAvY73rL

At the very least, the Lions can officially avoid going 0-18 on the year. However, they're still in danger of going defeated, as they could still end up with an NFL record of 0-16-1, which actually might be worse.
As for the Steelers, they struggled without Ben Roethlisberger in the lineup and had some key injuries on the defense. Even so, we might have received a glimpse into Pittsburgh's future once Big Ben retires from the NFL.
