Though NFL Network will broadcast the release of the 2020 NFL schedule on Thursday night, teams around the league will be allowed to release their schedule in advance.

League spokesman Brian McCarthy said that each team has the opportunity to showcase its game schedule on the platform of their choosing (via Brian Giuffra of The Big Lead):

“For the first time ever, each club may release its own game schedule on its owned and operated media platforms at 7:30 p.m. ET, 30 minutes before the NFL Network Schedule Release show begins at 8:00 p.m. … Clubs can choose to release their schedule in any appropriate way they choose, while prominently promoting the national NFL Network Schedule Release show to follow, during which the full schedule will be released, analyzed and discussed.”

The NFL Network broadcast and livestream will still feature normal coverage, but fans can look out for early access on social media. For instance, the Kansas City Chiefs will host their own livestream on a variety of platforms.

The NFL still faces uncertainty amid the coronavirus pandemic, but they are holding fast to the idea the season will start on time.

Free agency and the 2020 NFL Draft went on without a hitch, which would seem to suggest things are holding course. This explains why the league will carry on as normal with the release of the schedule.

Of course, plenty of questions remain with respect to the timeline for workouts and training camps in the case the virus does not slow its current pace.

But for now, football fans can indulge their optimism on Thursday night by getting an early glimpse at their team's schedule for the upcoming season.
