Josh Gordon recently filed for reinstatement to the NFL and another free-agent wide receiver is doing the same. Ahead of the 2020 NFL season, wideout Martavis Bryant has applied for reinstatement to the NFL, per Sirius Radio's Rudy Carpenter.

The last time that Bryant was in the NFL was in 2018 with the Oakland (now Las Vegas Raiders). Bryant would end up having his 2018 campaign cut short after being suspended indefinitely by the NFL for violating the league's substance-abuse policy. However, that wasn't his first run-in with substance abuse in the NFL.

Back in 2014, Bryant began his career as a fourth-round pick out of Clemson with the Pittsburgh Steelers. In his first season with the Steelers, Bryant would show off his big-play ability averaging 21.1 yards per receptions on 26 catches. He would also contribute eight touchdowns as a rookie.

Following his rookie campaign, Martavis Bryant would haul in 50 receptions for 765 yards and six touchdowns in his second season. But then, in his third year in Pittsburgh, the Clemson product would be suspended for the entire 2016 season.

After returning to the Steelers in 2017, Bryant would face another suspension from the NFL. At the same time, he would become disgruntled with his role on the team, causing him to request a trade. The Steelers would appease his request, sending him to the Raiders in exchange for a third-round pick in 2018.

With the new CBA being more lenient on the league's substance-abuse policy, some players are attempting to make a return to the NFL.

While he'll await a decision from Roger Goodell on his reinstatement, Bryant hopes to get the same results as Aldon Smith did earlier this offseason.
