The New Orleans Saints found themselves in a questionable situation when it was discovered that some of the team's executives were allegedly helping the local archdiocese cover-up a sexual abuse scandal. Despite the Saints' involvement, the NFL is not currently investigating the team over the sexual-abuse scandal, according to Daniel Kaplan of The Athletic.

Initially, it was discovered that the Saints were sending emails to the local church. Then, it was found that New Orleans was in court to prevent the emails that were sent to the archdiocese from getting out.

Amid the allegations, New Orleans denied any wrongdoing in accordance with the scandal. Of course, shortly after the reports surfaced, the Saints released an official statement to the media.

Within the statement, the Saints admitted to having a close relationship with the archdiocese. However, the team is denying having any involvement in the terrible occurrences that were happening.

In addition, Greg Bensel was contacted by the local church when the sexual abuse scandal began. Bensel, the Senior Vice President of Communications for the Saints, allegedly gave advice to the archdiocese. In spite of what some believed, the advice was for the church to be transparent and honest to the media.

As of now, the NFL doesn't believe that the Saints committed any wrongdoing on their end. However, if there is more to the story, the NFL could begin to investigate the organization for any misconduct. It will be worth keeping an eye on this situation as the offseason nears.
