The NFL season is starting to wind down. Week 15 will provide the NFL with an elite AFC West matchup for Thursday Night Football. It's time to continue our NFL odds series with a prediction and pick based on the Chiefs-Chargers odds.

After starting the season on the wrong foot, the Chiefs have stormed back like we all knew they would. They currently lead the AFC West with a 9-4 record. Patrick Mahomes started to limit the turnovers, which is a huge reason for their recent success, along with a much-improved defensive performance. When they were losing, his turnovers were a major problem. This will be the biggest game of the season for the Chiefs because they lost to the Los Angeles Chargers earlier in the year at home.

The Chargers are 8-5 and are right behind the Chiefs in the standings. The good news is that LA won the first matchup, so a win again this week would give them the season sweep and put them atop the AFC West. This is also the biggest game of the season for LA because a win would put them in a great position to win the division and potentially lock up the AFC West for the first time since 2009. The Bolts are hoping to get some crucial starters back to give them an even better chance of winning.

Here is how FanDuel has set the Chiefs-Chargers odds for Thursday night.

NFL Odds: Chiefs-Chargers Odds

Kansas City Chiefs: -3 (-110)

Los Angeles Chargers: +3 (-110)

Over: 52 (-110)

Under: 52 (-110)

Why The Chiefs Could Cover The Spread

The Chiefs' No.1 factor for covering this spread would be limiting turnovers. It's as simple as that. The reason why the Chiefs lost to LA earlier in the year was because Mahomes threw two bad interceptions. The Bolts took advantage of the miscues and stole a win in Arrowhead Stadium. Kansas City is playing far better now than early in the season. They are building off each win and know what is at stake Thursday night.

The Chiefs are 6-7 against the spread this year but have been winning a lot of their games by a lot of points. They just put up 48 against the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 14. The Chiefs' defense has stepped up massively after a brutal start to the season. Because their defense is a lot better, they are putting themselves in positions to win more often than not. Their defense will have a tough task in stopping Justin Herbert and the dominant Chargers offense.

Why The Chargers Could Cover The Spread

The Chargers are in a good position to cover this spread, but they just need some crucial starters to officially return. Keenan Allen, Asante Samuel Jr., and Derwin James Jr. all missed Sunday's win over the New York Giants. Allen is back from the COVID-19 list, and Samuel and James are working their way back from injuries. It isn't set in stone that James will return, but boy do the Chargers desperately need him against Mahomes and company.

This is a good matchup for the Chargers' defense because they are one of the worst teams in the NFL in stopping the run. Luckily for them, the Chiefs don't like to run the ball all that often. If the Chargers come in with a healthy secondary, they should have another great chance of stopping the Chiefs' offense. Containing Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce is not an easy task at all. LA is 7-6 against the spread this year and is impressively averaging the same amount of points per game as the Chiefs at 27.

Final Chiefs-Chargers Prediction & Pick

This should be one of the more exciting games we see all season. There are a ton of playoff implications on the line, and this could be the first time the Chargers sweep the Chiefs in a very long time. This game is going to set the tone for Week 15 and is one that you aren't going to want to miss. Two of the biggest names in the NFL face off against each other as Mahomes and Herbert continue their budding rivalry, which should be must-see TV for a long time.

I'm taking the Kansas City Chiefs to cover this spread and win in a nail-bitter. The Chiefs are going to need at least a touchdown advantage to do so, and I think they will get it done. This game can go either way, but the Chiefs are the more consistent team right now.

Final Chiefs-Chargers Prediction & Pick: Chiefs -3 (-110) and Over: 52 (-110)
