Jets vs. Patriots Week 7 prediction, odds, pick and more

Jets Patriots Prediction Jets Patriots Pick Jets Patriots Odds NFL Odds

Week 7 of the NFL will showcase two of the top rookie quarterbacks in the NFL. The New York Jets will take on the New England Patriots in an AFC East battle. It’s time to continue our NFL odds series and make a Jets-Patriots prediction and pick.

This isn’t the rivalry we are used to seeing without Brady at the helm for New England. Neither squad is very good this season, but the Patriots are starting to play a lot better than expected. New York is struggling with only one win this season against what was an injured Tennessee Titans team. Zach Wilson is turning the ball over frequently and the defense hasn’t figured out how to stop anyone yet. As for the Patriots, Mac Jones is completing a ton of passes but the rest of the offense isn’t clicking. They battled against a good Dallas Cowboys‘ team last week but came up short in overtime.

Here’s how the bookmakers have set the lines for Sunday’s game.

NFL Odds: Jets-Patriots Odds

New York Jets +7 (-114), +260 ML

New England Patriots -7 (-106), -320 ML

Over 42.5 points (-110)

Under 42.5 points (-110)

Why The Jets Could Cover The Spread

The Jets can cover the spread because this game will be close. The Patriots’ defense continues to be their strong suit, so Wilson and the Jets will need to elevate their game if they want to win. This is going to be a team that Wilson will need to familiarize himself with, as they play twice a year.

For Sunday’s game, Wilson and the offense will need to show us something they haven’t done yet. They will need to be sneaky and come up with a game plan that the Patriots aren’t used to defending. The Patriots are great at getting to the QB and creating turnovers. Wilson will need to control the game and not commit any turnovers if they want to keep themselves in it. It’s going to be very difficult for them to win if they turn it over. The Patriots are known for winning those types of games.

Why The Patriots Could Cover The Spread

The Patriots are going to cover if they continue to play their style of football. The offense with Jones under control is slowly improving. They like to take their time and drive down the field slowly. Jones isn’t forcing many throws and is completing easy passes for a shorter amount of yards. The team is clearly well-coached, and coach Bill Belichick will continue to put this team in positions to win.

The Jets are struggling and so it’s expected that Belichick will take advantage of that. His game plan should be to let his defense disrupt the rhythm of Wilson, and do whatever it takes to keep him rattled. Wilson has been forcing many throws, and if that continues then the Patriots’ secondary will create a turnover. New England is currently 2-4 against the spread this season.

Final Jets-Patriots Prediction & Pick

I expect the Patriots to dominate Wilson and shut down the Jets offense. It’s going to be a long afternoon for the rookie, and the opposite for the other rookie QB. Jones should continue to complete passes and find the chemistry with his core. If Wilson commits multiple turnovers then the Patriots should completely control this one. I expect them to win by at least a touchdown.
