Why The Steelers Could Cover The Spread
The Steelers come into this one looking to make in three wins in their past four games, but easier said than done on the road vs. a surging Chiefs team. Pittsburgh has had an up and down season, as they have battled injuries and declining play from quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. The Steelers run game has also been inconsistent despite consistently strong efforts from rookie running back Najee Harris.
The Steelers are just 2-4 outright on the road this season and 3-3 vs. the spread. Pittsburgh is 5-3 vs. the spread as underdogs this season, and has covered in three of their last five overall. The Chiefs are a tough opponent, and this may be a game where they struggle to keep up if their pass rush isn't getting to Patrick Mahomes. The Chiefs however may be due to play down to their competition after their recent hot streak.

The Chiefs are looking to make it eight straight wins when they meet the Steelers on Sunday. It would be a big win to further their chances at locking down home field throughout the AFC playoffs. Patrick Mahomes has been back to his MVP form of late and the Chiefs look like the team to beat, at least as far as the AFC is concerned, but maybe in general as well. Kansas City's defense has been stellar of late, allowing more than 17 points just once on their current win streak.
Kansas City is 6-2 outright at home this season but just 3-5 vs. the spread at Arrowhead. The Chiefs are 7-7 vs. the spread as a favorite overall this season, and have covered in their last five games. Kansas City could be a strong pick to cover again on Sunday, but the Steelers backs are against the wall so they might put up a good fight.

The Steelers find weird ways to win when they are up against it. Pittsburgh really needs a win this week, making them dangerous. The Chiefs are probably still too good to let that happen in a big game like this, but the Steelers could find a way to hang around. Take the Steelers and the points and the Chiefs have been in a few low scoring games at home of late. Pittsburgh getting more than seven is enough to ride with.
