Why Washington Can Cover The Spread

Washington has won three straight after pulling out a narrow win over the Seattle Seahawks on Monday night. They will be looking to upset the Raiders on the road this Sunday. Las Vegas has had a chaotic season, but snapped a three-game losing streak with a Thanksgiving day upset win over the Dallas Cowboys. Washington will look to extend their winning streak as slight underdogs in Vegas. Their defense has been improved of late, and Taylor Heinicke continues to find ways to pull out wins.

Being such slim underdogs on the road on a short week vs. the Raiders, who have been off since last Thursday, is not ideal. Washington will have to play a very solid game to cover or win on the road vs. the Raiders on Sunday. Washington is 4-7 vs. the spread this season.

Why The Raiders Can Cover The Spread

Derek Carr righted the ship last week in the Raiders' win over the Cowboys. Las Vegas might be in good position for another win this week at home vs. Washington. The passing game will be a big factor again this week as Washington is fourth in the NFL in fewest rushing yards allowed per game this season. Josh Jacobs will still be a factor in this one, but teams usually find more success through the air vs. the Washington defense. This could be a big game for Carr.

Las Vegas in second in the NFL in passing yards per game, so this might be just the right matchup for Carr and the Raiders. The Raiders are 5-6 vs. the spread so far this season. One big factor for Las Vegas is that tight end Darren Waller is doubtful to play in this game due to injury.

Final Washington-Raiders Prediction & Pick

This might be a close out, but take the Raiders to cover and win at home vs. Washington on Sunday. Carr has been able to move the ball through the air without turning the ball over this season, and Washington gives up the third most passing yards per game in the entire NFL. Carr and the Raiders receivers might be primed for a big game in this one, even if Waller is unable to go.

The Raiders being such slim favorites on their home field is appealing. Washington is just 2-3 on the road this season, so Las Vegas should be in a good spot for a cover and win on Sunday.

Final Washington-Raiders Prediction & Pick: Raiders -1.5 (-106)
