Jimmy Garoppolo has been stellar since taking over the gunslinger duties for the San Francisco 49ers. The former backup to Tom Brady having this sort of excellent run has resulted in plenty of hyperbolic praise.

However, it might be the nice sentiment Brady gently hurled on WEEI that sits most comfortably rests in Handsome Jimmy G's cranium.

“He’s done a great job,” Brady said on WEEI. “You go in there and get the opportunity to play and win games, that is what we are all here for. It was good to see and good for them to beat Jacksonville, that really helped us. I am really happy for Jimmy and he’s worked really hard. It shows up when he goes out there and plays really well.”

It is pretty funny that Brady snuck in a “that was good for us” line.

Jimmy Garoppolo manned the helm for the 49ers to a 44-33 win over the Jaguars on Sunday afternoon. While that was certainly good news for the Patriots, for the Niners beating one of the best teams in the National Football League does add credence to the idea that the roster isn't that far away from a legit playoff run.

Or, as running back Carlos Hyde puts it, the Super Bowl.
