The general feeling is that the Arizona Cardinals are going to take Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray with the No. 1 overall pick in the NFL Draft later this month, which signals the potential exit of fellow signal-caller Josh Rosen, the Cardinals' first-round pick of last year.
However, Adam Schefter of ESPN is reporting that Arizona has not yet engaged in any active trade talks on Rosen, and while other teams have inquired about him, the Cardinals have not shown a willingness to deal him to date.
Obviously, the operative phrase there is “to date,” as the draft is still a few weeks away, and even if the Cards don't trade Rosen before the draft, they can still deal him afterward.
Schefter also states that Rosen is expected to report to the start of the Cardinals' offseason workout program on Monday.
Article Continues BelowOf course, none of this necessarily means that Rosen isn't going to get dealt, as this could definitely be a smokescreen by Arizona to try to gain some leverage in trade discussions.
There has been some talk that Rosen's trade value is not all that high, with some speculating that the Cardinals would not receive anything more than a third-round draft pick in return, definitely an underwhelming package considering what Arizona gave up to move up in the draft to take him last spring.
The 22-year-old had a very disappointing rookie campaign, making 12 starts and throwing for 2,278 yards, 11 touchdowns and 14 interceptions while completing 55.2% of his passes and registering a passer rating of 66.7.
