James Conner has been in the NFL since 2017. He started his career with the Pittsburgh Steelers and he played there for four seasons. He then joined the Arizona Cardinals in 2021, and he has been with the team for the past three seasons. Conner has found a good amount of success during his career, but last season was his most impressive as he rushed for over 1,000 yards for the first time. Conner is getting ready for another season in Arizona, and he likes it a lot there.
This upcoming season will be the last year of James Conner's current deal. He understands that football is a business and that there is a chance that he will have to leave, but he doesn't want that to happen. Conner wants to finish his career with the Cardinals.
“It would be awesome to finish my career here, but nothing changes,” Conner said, according to an article from the Cardinals website. “If anything, it's time to turn it up even more going into the last year of my deal. I'm thankful I got to see the last year of it, so I'll go into it with everything I got. We'll see what happens next year, hopefully stay, but I understand it's a business.”
Last season wasn't a good one for the Cardinals as they finished in last place in their division. James Conner is ready to do whatever it takes to help bring the team back this year.
“It's just who I am,” Conner said in regard to his leadership qualities. “I want to turn things around out here. We have a great football team, we're coached really well, so we want that to reflect on our record and our play. I want to speak up.”
The Cardinals are expected to better this season compared to last, and if Conner has another campaign like he did in 2023, that will help a lot. He carried the ball 208 times last season and he rushed for 1,040 yards and seven touchdown.
James Conner receives praise from teammates

James Conner is a leader on the Cardinals, and his teammates look up to him. Linebacker Dennis Gardeck spoke about it, and Conner's teammates think very highly of him.
“When he speaks it's heard,” Dennis Gardeck said. “Every word is meaningful, and you know if there is something that needs to be corrected and he's correcting it, it's something that needs to be fixed now.”
One of the most important traits that Conner possesses is how much he cares. Talent goes a long way, but you have to care to be at your best.
“(Conner) truly cares about the team,” Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon said. “He puts himself behind the team. I would go to his actions on a daily basis — he does everything you want him to do the right way. If I was telling my 8-year-old, ‘Hey you come to practice' and you say, ‘You look out there and you follow one guy,' he would be in that conversation.”
James Conner loves the Cardinals and he wants to be with the team for a long time. It sounds like his coaches and teammates want him to be there for a long time as well.
