The Arizona Cardinals wide receiver room took a massive hit on Wednesday as it was announced that DeAndre Hopkins needs surgery on a torn MCL. While he is out for the remainder of the regular season, there is the chance he could return if the Cardinals make a deep playoff run.
On Thursday, quarterback Kyler Murray reacted to the loss of one of his favorite targets. Via Darren Urban:
Kyler Murray on the loss of DeAndre Hopkins:
Freak injury, but the Cardinals have a deep receiver room. A big hit no question but “not every time you’re going to get to the end with your full army.”

Murray knows how much this will hurt Arizona but indeed, they have a lot of solid wideouts. Christian Kirk, Rondale Moore, and A.J. Green are all having impressive seasons and should be able to pick up the slack with Hopkins out. There's also Zach Ertz then running backs James Conner and Chase Edmonds who are frequent options for Murray.
In fact, the Cardinals are 10th in the league in passing yards. Hopkins was seen limping in the second half of Arizona's 30-23 loss to the Los Angeles Rams in Week 14 on Monday night and unfortunately, it's resulted in a pretty brutal injury.
The Cardinals are currently 10-3 and will be looking to bounce back with a victory against the atrocious Detroit Lions on Sunday. A win for Kliff Kingsbury's squad would clinch a playoff berth.
