The Arizona Cardinals have ushered in some significant changes this offseason. Regardless, it appears expectations are as high as ever for wide receiver Christian Kirk going into the 2019 NFL season.
Kirk was able to establish a bit of a role for himself in the offense last season. Mark Sessler of NFL.com predicts that he is the best bet in Arizona to be selected to his first career Pro Bowl:
Article Continues BelowKingsbury went out of his way to note that Kirk “has a good feel for it, as well,” after shining in a familiar scheme at Texas A&M. Off to a fast start, Kirk's stock is rising as the Cardinals prepare to feature his gifts as a deep threat. I'm betting on Kingsbury and Murray churning out a fleet of big-yardage targets led by the frisky Kirk.
The prospect of Kirk making the Pro Bowl this season may seem a bit far-fetched this early in the offseason. Regardless, there seems to be no doubt that he is poised for a breakout year. New head coach Kliff Kingsbury was notorious for his Air-Raid offense at Texas Tech, so it is safe to assume that his approach will contain elements of what he is used to running.
The Cardinals took Kirk in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft. His talent and the lack of firepower on offense earned him an opportunity to make an immediate impact on offense. He finished the 2018 campaign with 43 receptions for 590 yards and three touchdowns before suffering a broken foot in Week 13.
The 22-year-old will certainly have some competition for the nod to this year's Pro Bowl. Although he will no longer have to worry about Cleveland Browns wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. being in the conference, he was essentially replaced with the likes of Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Amari Cooper. Meanwhile, household names like Julio Jones, Michael Thomas, and Davante Adams continue to stake their claim as the best wideouts in the NFC.
