The general consensus is that the Arizona Cardinals are going to take University of Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray with the first overall pick of the NFL Draft next month. That would likely spell the end for Josh Rosen, whom the Cardinals selected in the first round of the draft last year, in Arizona after just one season.
Rosen certainly struggled during his rookie campaign, starting 13 games and throwing for 2,278 yards, 11 touchdowns and 14 interceptions while completing just 55.2 percent of his passes and registering a passer rating of 66.7.
Still, given the fact that he is just 22 years old and was considered a top prospect during his collegiate days at UCLA, Rosen is sure to draw some interest on the trade market, and Joel Klatt of Fox Sports names the Los Angeles Chargers and New England Patriots as two teams that have expressed interest in the young signal-caller.
Article Continues BelowOf course, neither the Chargers nor the Patriots need a quarterback heading into next season, as Los Angeles has Philip Rivers and New England has Tom Brady, but keep this in mind: Rivers is 37 and Brady is 41.
Based on the age of those two quarterbacks, it makes plenty of sense that both squads would be considering trying to find a successor, and Rosen likely would not cost either club a first-round draft pick.
Some feel that the Cardinals would not receive anything more than a third-rounder if they do decide to move Rosen, and the Chargers and Patriots might be willing to pay that price for some security for the future.
