It's no secret that the Washington Redskins are in desperate need of a young franchise quarterback to build around for their future. They haven't made many steps towards revamping the position though – especially with the Alex Smith injury. That could all be changing, however, with the help of the Arizona Cardinals and Josh Rosen.
According to Michael David Smith of ProFootballTalk, ESPN's Chris Mortensen threw out the Washington Redskins as a possible destination for Josh Rosen.
To be fair, this is a very odd situation. There are a lot of moving parts that could change things.
First, let's look at the Cardinals side. They might not even want to trade Rosen in the first place. This could be for a few reasons. Maybe they end up not drafting a quarterback with their first pick, or trading the pick in general (although this is the most unlikely). They could also decide to keep him even if they do draft someone as an insurance plan (again this seems unlikely though).
Then there's the Redskins. They could decide to go with Case Keenum. Or maybe they believe they can get someone they want at the position in this draft. They could trade up for a quarterback as well. Perhaps they believe the quarterback they want is in next year's draft.
Finally, there's the other team factor. The Redskins certainly won't be the only team interested in Rosen, so the Cardinals should have multiple suitors.
Due to all this, everything is circumstantial. No one wants to be too behind a side because there are so many factors.
The Redskins do make sense though. Whether or not they agree is the real question.
However, it's become clear that the Redskins need to make a move at quarterback. It's also obvious that there's plenty of interest in Josh Rosen. Whether he's the quarterback of the Cardinals, or someone else, he'll have a welcome home in 2019.
