After they shipped out Marquise ‘Hollywood’ Brown to the Arizona Cardinals during the 2022 NFL Draft, the Baltimore Ravens have jumpstarted their offseason on quite an exciting note. With the draft now over and OTAs starting up, all eyes turn to their class of incoming draft picks and undrafted free agent signees.

For the Ravens, their roster did not have a lot of holes entering the offseason, but with their draft class headlined by Kyle Hamilton and Tyler Linderbaum, they certainly came out of the draft with one of the better classes. Supporting Lamar Jackson still needs to remain one of this team’s main prerogatives heading into the 2022 season.

Their class of undrafted free agents (UDFAs) doesn’t really include one headline grabber, but instead includes a bunch of solid depth options that could actually make a difference if they are able to healthily make it through offseason camps and the preseason schedule.

Ravens Undrafted Free Agent To Make 2022 NFL Roster

Slade Bolden
WR – Alabama

Continuing the pipeline of Alabama Crimson Tide players joining the Ravens, wide receiver Slade Bolden has joined the team as an undrafted free agent.

The odds are in Bolden’s favor because of the lack of established, in-house WR options that this team employs, as Rashod Bateman headlines the depth chart at this point in time. While Bolden is of smaller stature (5’11”, 194 lbs.), he is more than just a cool name.

Overshadowed by Jameson Williams, John Metchie III, and countless others during his time with the Crimson Tide, Bolden was never actually able to make that much of a name for himself. But his work manning the slot role for Alabama did a lot to help facilitate the offense, an underrated element that he brings to the NFL.

Appearing in 30 games during his four years with Alabama, Bolden caught 68 passes for just over 700 yards and 4 TDs, not necessarily the type of numbers you expect from a prospect with the Crimson Tide. But Bolden was brought in as one of the six UDFA WRs, so the Ravens have put a lot of weight on their UDFA class for offensive playmakers.

With their offense leaning even more into the rushing attack rather than throwing the ball, a ceiling for a player like Bolden may be limited, but he certainly can help provide some much-needed depth at the WR position for the Ravens roster. His skill set doesn’t rely on many eye-popping traits, but he is consistent and unafraid to go across the middle, all the while bringing valuable special teams coverage and returning experience to the table.

Expecting to find an immediate starter from the UDFA heap is unrealistic, but the Ravens may have just found someone that can have a bit of an impact in his rookie season. The depth chart certainly benefits him as it currently looks, but expect Bolden to make even more of a name for himself as the offseason progresses.
