There has been plenty of speculation regarding the future of right guard Marshal Yanda. Fortunately, it appears he is not ready to hang up his cleats just yet.
Baltimore made some significant changes to their roster this offseason that involved the departure of several key veterans.
According to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter, Yanda has agreed to a one-year extension with the Ravens:
Quieting some of the speculation that swirled this off-season that this could be his final NFL season, seven-time Pro Bowl guard Marshal Yanda and the Ravens reached agreement on a one-year contract extension that ties him to Baltimore through the 2020 season, per league sources.
This is certainly good news for the Ravens. The front office was not shy about expressing their desire for Yanda to return.
Article Continues BelowUnfortunately, he had not given any indication regarding his plans for the 2019 NFL season. The roster moves that were made this offseason only added further speculation to all the rumors. However, Baltimore has managed to secure him for another two seasons.
Quarterback Lamar Jackson will be happy to know that an integral piece of his protection will be back.
There is no question that Yanda is considered to be one of the premier guards of his generation. The veteran has been selected to seven Pro Bowls and six All-Pro teams during his 12-year career. He will now have an opportunity to help this run-heavy Ravens offense find its footing over the next two years.
Despite all the recent changes, it is safe to say that expectations are still rather high in Baltimore moving forward.
