The Baltimore Ravens are making some moves in their front office. The team has promoted Joe Horitz to become their new director of player personnel, per Adam Caplan of Sirius XM NFL Radio. He had been their director of college scouting.

In a separate tweet, Caplan notes that George Koknis was also promoted and also given the title of director of player personnel. Caplan noted that it's becoming a new trend in the league to split up director of player personnel duties across two people.

This is the first year that Eric DeCosta is in charge in Baltimore, so it's not surprising that there's been some shuffling. Longtime general manager Ozzie Newsome officially stepped down in January, paving the way for DeCosta to take his place.

It was announced before the 2018 season that Newsome would be stepping down after the year and that DeCosta would be taking his place. DeCosta has been with the team for a long time, and has been widely regarded as one of the top front office executives in football.

Teams have tried to poach him away over the years, but he always stayed loyal to the Ravens. Now that he's in charge, he's clearly remaking the front office in his vision. The Ravens have a big season ahead of them, and are counting on the moves they made to surround Lamar Jackson with talent to pan out, so fans better hope DeCosta knows what he is doing.
