With NFL free agency set to kick off in just under a couple of weeks, but the Baltimore Ravens are making sure that one player won’t get the chance to test the market.

Earlier today, the Ravens announced that they would be holding a press conference on Friday with general manager Eric DeCosta, head coach John Harbaugh, and a previously unidentified player. According to reports from The Athletic’s Jeff Zrebiec, that player is cornerback Tavon Young, who has reportedly agreed to a contract extension with the team, according to Pro Football Talk.

Young initially took to Twitter to confirm the news, but the tweet has since been deleted, so it seems as if the team and player are waiting until tomorrow to announce things. The exact terms of the deal aren’t known, but with Young’s injury history, there’s a chance it might not be a massive deal.

Originally drafted in the fourth round in the 2016 NFL Draft, Young missed the entire 2017 season with a torn ACL, but played in 15 games – mainly as a slot corner – during the 2018 season. There, he helped bolster one of the leagues best defenses, totaling 37 tackles, two sacks, and an interception throughout the season. With only one year left on his initial deal, it makes sense why the team might want to take the chance on his young talent.

Unfortunately for the team, Young was forced to miss the Ravens’ playoff loss to the Chargers with a sports hernia, but he has since said he should be ready to go when the Ravens report for offseason programs.
