The Baltimore Ravens released safety Earl Thomas on Sunday following an altercation with fellow safety Chuck Clark in practice on Friday.
Baltimore had initially been thought to be seeking trade partners for Thomas, though it seemed the Ravens were also prepared to release Thomas. Indeed, ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter noted the wording of Thomas' official release indicates the Ravens might file a grievance against the former All-Pro.

Thomas did not show any vindictiveness in his reaction to being released.
The 31-year-old posted a message to Instagram thanking the Ravens and general manager Eric DeCosta and wishing the organization well. Thomas said he wished things had turned out differently, but also added “you live and you learn.”

Thomas was sent home from the aforementioned practice after throwing a punch at Clark. The veteran tried to explain the situation on Instagram, saying he made a “mental error” resulting in a broken coverage.
Obviously, things escalated quite a bit.

It would seem there is more to the story if the Ravens were so hasty in their decision to part ways with Thomas.
Although the former Seattle Seahawks was not the most dominant safety, he was named to the Pro Bowl team, and figured to anchor Baltimore's secondary once again in 2020.

The Dallas Cowboys might be a suitor. Ian Rapoport of NFL Network suggested as much earlier Sunday morning.
From Inside Training Camp Live: A firm decision on S Earl Thomas is coming, and a release is likely, sources say. The #Cowboys aren't expected to trade for him, given the money. But when he's released? Expect real interest from Dallas. pic.twitter.com/aj9NcN5s3S

Rapoport also tweeted the San Francisco 49ers and Houston Texans were teams to watch with respect to Thomas' potential market.
In any case, Thomas is not harboring ill will towards the Ravens as he prepares for a new chapter.
