The Baltimore Ravens have been content with quarterback Joe Flacco as their starter for the past decade. However, they decided to kick things up a notch by bringing in an abundance of talent under center this offseason.
As a result, there has been plenty of speculation about his status as Baltimore's franchise quarterback moving forward. According to Peter King of NBC Sports, Flacco has responded with the best training camp of his career:
The report hardly comes as any surprise. There is always a heightened sense of urgency when one's team invests in those that play the same position. Baltimore moved up to select quarterback Lamar Jackson with the 32nd overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. They also managed to sign former Pro Bowl quarterback Robert Griffin III after a brief hiatus from the league.
It is easy to pin Flacco's performance thus far to the presence of Griffin and Jackson in training camp. Even he has sarcastically acknowledged that any success he may have will be credited to them. However, his biggest concern at this point may be trying to beat Father Time. The veteran has endured some rough outings as of late and time is running out for him to prove he can still lead a team to a Super Bowl.
