The Baltimore Ravens have had a solid offseason thus far. They were credited by most people for having of the best drafts, landing Notre Dame safety Kyle Hamilton and one of the highest regarded centers in over a decade in Tyler Linderbaum, both in the first round.

The Ravens are looking to get back to the playoffs after a tough 2021 season. A lot has been made of the contract negotiations between Pro Bowl quarterback Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore front office. The next topic of discussion Ravens fans have been clamoring about was the lack of Jackson's presence at the team's voluntary OTA's. That prompted some criticism tossed at Jackson. He wasn't going to just lie down and take it.

The Ravens quarterback took to social media to respond.

“Lamar wants to be Lamar Chris. This part of OTA's is Voluntary my Guy I will be there just not on your watch it's probably other QBs not attending Voluntary OTA's either but since it's Lamar it's a huge deal. Find something else to talk about,” Jackson tweeted.

Baltimore's franchise player was addressing Chris Simms personally, who was one of his critics.

The fact of the matter is veteran quarterbacks generally do not show up to voluntary organized team activities. It's not a surprise at all the Jackson is not there. He is correct in his assessment that there are many other quarterbacks that have not shown up either.

It's very possible that the contract discussions could have something to do with his no-show. But more than likely, this is a non-story that the media is trying to turn into something.
