All eyes were on Baltimore Ravens rookie quarterback Lamar Jackson on Friday night during the Hall of Fame game against the Chicago Bears. Jackson is the future of the Ravens even if he is going to be the backup for at least this year.
There were questions about how his game would transfer to the NFL and Friday was his first chance to show the world what he could do in the Ravens uniform. Even though Jackson has been playing football since he was a young boy his first taste of the NFL isn't what he expected it to be.
“It wasn’t what I expected,” Jackson said via the Ravens team website. “I felt like I should have had more touchdowns out there, me and my unit. That’s it. Still room for improvement for us. We’re just still learning each and every week.”
Jackson finished the game 4-for-10 throwing for 33 yards a touchdown and an interception. He also showed off his rushing ability running eight times for 25 yards. Jackson said the one big thing he noticed was how much faster the game was. Plays where he could have gotten away from players in college he was taken down on Thursday night.
“You can’t jog,” Jackson said. “I was like shocked. I was like, ‘Ah man, he tackled me.’ You got to run.”
There is still a lot of learning left to do for Jackson as he tries to be a starting NFL quarterback but the first taste of life in the NFL was a memorable one.
