Former Baltimore Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis is expected to lead the upcoming class of Hall of Fame inductees, which will be announced on Saturday, the day before Super Bowl 52. The serendipity of the numbers involved isn’t lost on Lewis, who said on the B-More Opinionated podcast that he fully appreciates just how well everything has lined up for him.
“You cannot draw this stuff up,” Lewis said. “My entire career I wore No. 52. I’m walking into Super Bowl 52. It’s like this surreal moment.”
As if that wasn’t enough of a freaky connection with Lewis, consider the fact that he’ll be voted in on Feb 3., the fifth anniversary of his last game when he helped the Ravens win the Super Bowl against the San Francisco 49ers.

He had a terrific 17-year NFL career, all of which he spent with the Ravens. He was a 13-time Pro Bowler, a seven-time first-team All-Pro, two-time Super Bowl champ, and one-time Super Bowl MVP. He will go down in history as one of the best middle linebackers the game has ever seen.
Lewis is one of 15 finalists, which include wide receiver Randy Moss, guard Steve Hutchinson, linebacker Brian Urlacher, and wide receiver Terrell Owens. The numbers and dates obviously won’t be quite as significant for them as it will be for Lewis, but it will nevertheless just as special for them to get into the Hall should they be so lucky.
