The focus was on the NFL debut of Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson during Thursday night's Hall of Fame. A story that hasn't gotten as much traction is Robert Griffin III's return to the football field.

Griffin hadn't played in an NFL game in 19 months until Thursday, describing the return as emotional.

“People don't understand that once you're out of the league for a year, it's really hard to get back in, especially if you're a quarterback and a high draft pick. It's just really hard to do,” Griffin said via ESPN. “[Thursday] was an emotional day for me, just coming back out here. I know it's the preseason, it's the Hall of Fame game, but to have an opportunity to come back out here and play football is something that I really cherish.”

Griffin is in quite the battle to make the Ravens roster, and a lot will come down to if the team decides to keep two or three quarterbacks. The last time the Ravens kept three quarterbacks was in 2009, but with rookie Lamar Jackson also in the fold, perhaps they will do it again this season.

The former Washington Redskins first-round pick made a good impression on the Ravens in his first start. He completed 7-of-11 passes with one touchdown and one interception. The interception wasn't his fault as it came from a drop, and two of the incompletions were also drops by the receivers.

If he continues to play like he did in his first game, the Ravens will be hard pressed to let RG3 walk free.
