The Baltimore Ravens defense will be missing a ton of guys in practice this week. Marlon Humphrey already announced he tested positive for COVID-19 earlier this week. The fallout from that news forces the Ravens to place seven other players on the COVID-19 list.

On the daily Locked On Ravens podcast, Kevin Oestreicher and Cole Jackson fielded a listener question that asked about the potential issues that could come from so many Ravens defensive players missing time away from practice this week.

Oestreicher: The Ravens defense is in a bit of a predicament with Marlon Humphrey’s coronavirus diagnosis. There were seven close contact players on the reserve/COVID list. It includes Patrick Queen, Matthew Judon, Malik Harrison, L.J. Fort, DeShon Elliot, Terrell Bonds, Tyus Bowser. There is no practice for those guys all week. If they test negative throughout the next five days, they will be able to return to the football field and play in the game against Indianapolis on Sunday but we saw with Lamar Jackson a few weeks ago, having missed a few practices, that’s tough for players especially with all of the reps and learning that goes on there. So Cole, what’re your thoughts if there’s no practice for those guys?

Jackson: Yeah, I think the thing you have to remember is during the bye week, they’re still in the facility but it's not like a normal week. The Ravens had the bye week, then the normal week, then for these defensive players that aren’t allowed in the facility, it's kind of like another bye week where they’re doing kind of like film stuff. They’re always doing film stuff. But you’re right. There’s no replacement for that kind of being on the field and it's just about getting into a rhythm.
