Cincinnati Bengals tight end Tyler Eifert will be thinking about testing the free agency waters in a few weeks, but for teams to consider him as a viable option, they'll need to fully understand his health. No one wants to offer an injured guy a lot of money to sit on the IR.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Eifert’s health is doing just fine.
The news could get a few teams to give Eifert a look. When he’s been healthy, he has played well. The problem they’ll have, though, is that he’s only been healthy for 39 games over five seasons. It doesn’t matter how talented a player is. When he plays in fewer than half of the regular season games over a five-year span—well, that’s not good.
Yes, he had a great year in 2015 when he made 52 receptions for 615 yards and 13 touchdowns. But over five seasons, he's only compiled 127 receptions for 1,537 yards and 20 touchdowns.

Looking forward, he has been cleared to participate in OTAs. So, if there is a team that isn’t too worried about the back problems that required multiple surgeries or his history of ankle issues, he is probably open to talking.
However, if Eifert is expecting a big payday, he may want to pump the breaks. He’ll get some interest, but with his injury history, he shouldn’t expect more than a couple million a season at best.
