Wide receiver Josh Gordon hasn't played a game for the Cleveland Browns since 2014. The once-promising young star of the struggling NFL franchise will finally get back on the field for Cleveland at some point this season and it appears he's got a fairly lofty goal as he makes his comeback.

Apparently, Gordon has his sights set on becoming the best player to ever play his position in the NFL, via Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com.

“Ultimately my goal is to be the best wide receiver of all time, so I think any wide receiver, any position should see themselves in that way,” he said Wednesday in his first interview in Berea since reporting to the team on Tuesday. “For me, that's always been my goal, and it's just been re-affirmed for me time and time again and now being back in the situation to do it, I plan on seeing it through.”

Gordon has only played a grand total of 35 games during his NFL career with the Browns. The now 26-year-old made quite an impression in that short time on the gridiron as he was considered to be one of the elite players at his position, especially after the 2013 NFL season.

In his best season in Cleveland, Gordon hauled in 86 catches for 1,646 yards and nine touchdowns. The Browns wideout earned All-Pro honors for his work during the 2013 campaign and at the time made many believe he had a bright future ahead.

If Gordon had been able to sustain that production while not being suspended over and over again, there's a chance he could've been in the conversation for the league's best receiver. Now he'll have to prove he's still in that elite category while catching passes from a rookie quarterback in DeShone Kizer.
