The Buffalo Bills made the playoffs in 2017 for the first time since 1999. They went 9-7, and slid into the playoffs as a wild card team. The Bills ran into the powerhouse defense of the Jacksonville Jaguars in their first postseason game. They could only muster up three points. Last season, they returned to their losing ways. The Bills finished 6-10 in 2018 under second year head coach Sean McDermott.

The Josh Allen era began last season. Allen was picked seventh overall by Buffalo in the 2018 NFL Draft. He entered his rookie season as the starter and faced normal growing pains. He finished the season with 2,074 yards, 10 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions in 12 games. Allen completed 52.6% of his passes as a rookie.

The Bills made some nice offseason additions to the team. Their offensive line is revamped with the addition of Mitch Morse and Ty Nsekhe. John Brown and Cole Beasley immediately make the wide receiving core better. Allen is a young quarterback with star power, but he was a part of a weak offense last season. With a new offensive line and stronger receivers, Allen could take the next step as a starting quarterback.

The Bills are not viewed as a playoff team heading into the season. They play in a division with the Patriots, and in the stacked AFC. Plenty has to happen if the Bills want to reach the top. Here are three players that could be cut before the beginning of the season.

1. LeSean McCoy

McCoy is years past his days of terrorizing opposing defenses in Philadelphia. He rushed for 1,000 yards in 2016 and 2017 as a member of the Bills, but last season he had the worst season of his career. McCoy carried the ball 161 times for 514 yards. This was an average of 3.2 yards per carry which was the worst of his 10-year career.

It is unlikely that the Bills decide to part ways with McCoy, but it is not out of the question. McCoy carries a $9 million cap hit this season. The Bills would save $6.4 million if he is released. Buffalo does not have a massive need to clear cap space, but it is always beneficial. The Bills added Frank Gore and T.J. Yeldon in free agency. Devin Singletary was drafted in the third round out of Florida Atlantic. He could be McCoy's possible replacement if the Bills decide to cut the former All-Pro running back.

The chances of McCoy being on another team to begin the season are low. If he gets off to a slow start in training camp, the chances might get better and better.

2. Vladimir Ducasse

Ducasse started is career in New York and spent four seasons with the Jets before moving on. Since then, he has played on four teams in five years. Heading into 2019, Ducasse is buried on the Bills' depth chart. With the additions of Morse and Nsehke, Ducasse seems to be the odd man out.

Ducasse was originally brought to Buffalo to join offensive line coach Juan Castillo. With Castillo out of the picture, Ducasse could be next. Ducasse has played 22 games as a member of the Bills over two seasons. He has not been a strong piece of the offensive line. This could lead to his release from the Bills.

3. Patrick DiMarco

DiMarco has spent the last two seasons in Buffalo. He has turned into an extremely reliable player at the fullback position. He has played all 16 games in five straight seasons. DiMarco has emerged as an important player on special teams. He played 53% of snaps on special teams last season. The fullback proved to be less important on offense. He played just 16% of offensive snaps in 2018.

DiMarco has just three carries in two seasons with the Bills. It is clear that they do not use him as a running back, but with upgrades at the position and a stronger offensive line, DiMarco might be the odd man out. The Bills have also made significant improvements on special teams. DiMarco made just five starts last season as a fullback.

This does not seem like a groundbreaking move, but with DiMarco's impact on special teams, the Bills might opt to keep him around. However, with camp right around the corner, DiMarco could easily get beat out at his position.
