Buffalo Bills running back LeSean McCoy has been subject to some trade rumors over the past month. But barring a blockbuster return, it’s unlikely that the Bills will actually pull the trigger on a trade for the former two-time All-Pro before Tuesday’s trade deadline, league sources told Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Despite their 2-5 start to the season, the rebuilding Bills are apparently under no real pressure to get rid of one of their best players in McCoy for just any price. Shady is still under contract for next season, and the Bills are ready to hold onto him until they receive an offer that they deem acceptable.

Buffalo has spoken to at least three teams about McCoy, per Schefter, but none has been willing to offer the Bills’ asking price for the star running back. McCoy’s former team, the Philadelphia Eagles, has been most prominently linked with a potential trade for Shady as they look to add another running back following Jay Ajayi’s season-ending torn ACL.

A six-time Pro Bowler, McCoy is having a down season this year, in part due to injuries. He has rushed for just 244 yards in six games this season. But he’s rushed for over 1,000 yards in each of the previous two seasons.

If healthy, McCoy could have quite a significant impact on a team that trades for him. But unless some team meets the Bills’ asking price in the coming days, it seems Shady will have to spend the rest of the season in Buffalo.
