After being cut by the Houston Texans on Friday, J.J. Watt has emerged as one of the most coveted names in free agency of late. As it turns out, the Buffalo Bills are reportedly seriously considering bringing in the decorated defensive end to the team, with Watt likewise showing some mutual interest.
ESPN's Kimberly Martin recently reported that the interest between the two parties is “definitely mutual” which means that Watt could be making his way to Buffalo very soon.
Watt himself has addressed his current situation, describing free agency as “wild.” The 31-year-old's tweet was quite cryptic and it would be impossible to tell what's on his mind right now based on that single tweet — except of course that he's now had a first-hand experience as to the craziness of free agency.
It is worth noting, though, that the Bills are not the only team that has shown interest in the three-time AP Defensive Player of the Year winner. The Pittsburgh Steelers — where his brothers T.J. and Derek currently play for — have been linked for a move for Watt, and so have the Cleveland Browns, the Green Bay Packers, and the Tennessee Titans, to name a few. You get the point. Watt is a wanted man right now.
At this point, however, one thing that needs to be considered is how the league has yet to announce this year's salary cap. Watt is as big as they come, and he will require a significant paycheck, so teams are likely to act with prudence in their respective pursuits for the five-time All Pro DE.
