Even though there are plenty who think that signing Le'Veon Bell is a bad idea, Stephen A. Smith believes the Carolina Panthers should take a chance on him.

While we'd previously reported that the Jets were concerned about signing Bell when he enters free agency — mostly because there's a question as to whether he's in good enough shape to get signed — Smith feels that the Panthers could benefit from his presence.

Let's just say that his fellow First Take co-hosts didn't take that suggestion well.

“Smith then tried to justify his faux pas by saying that the Panthers “don't have receivers”, and that Bell should serve as a compliment to McCaffrey. Smith's comments again display a lack of knowledge about the present state of the Panthers: In 2018, the Panthers' receiving corps went from a liability to a strength thanks to the emergence of young stars D.J. Moore and Curtis Samuel, as well as the very reliable play of Jarius Wright and productive play from Devin Funchess and Torrey Smith in the first half of the season.”

While Le'Veon Bell does seem to be an attractive prospect to some teams, including the 49ers, the Panthers would not be one of the team that would be best served with having him on board.

Additionally, there's the question of whether any team can really afford Bell's asking price. At $50 million, and not in the best shape of his life, there are some who question if he's worth it at all, no matter how well he plays.
