The Carolina Panthers recently parted ways with longtime coach Ron Rivera. Cam Newton is on his way out in Carolina so the franchise will take on a new identity in 2020. The future of Kyle Allen with the team is up in the air. There are plenty of decisions to be made in Carolina and one is if they should take a quarterback in the draft.

Carolina will be picking in the top half of the draft in 2020. They might not feel a need to reach for a player like Justin Herbert that early in the draft. This draft class is extremely deep with quarterback talent that will be spread over the first three rounds.

If the Panthers do not want to land one of the top prospects this year, they do not have to as there are talents that will likely be in the later rounds such as Utah State's Jordan Love.

First, it is not a done deal that Love will declare for the 2020 NFL Draft. He went through a slump during the middle of his season and he could opt to play at a bigger school as a grad transfer. Should he enter the draft, he will not be a first-round selection. Love will be a day two draftee and the Panthers are an intriguing spot.

The biggest question that will need to be answered is if Love is better than Allen. This season, Allen stepped in and had some success early on. He did some great things but it all evens out eventually. People in Carolina know that Allen is not the future of this team. If the team does not feel that Love is better than he will not be taken. On paper, he is a much better prospect.

Love is a 6'4, 225-pound quarterback with a huge arm who can make any throw on the field. He has all the physical tools to be successful in the NFL but he played himself out of the first round this season. Love is the quarterback who had the biggest roller-coaster season in 2019. He threw for 3,085 yards with 17 touchdowns and 16 interceptions. He completed 60.6% of his passes but let's remember that he played at Utah State.

If Love decides to come out and enter the draft, he will not be a first-round selection. This could work in the Panthers' favor because they could get a great value on a young quarterback. This move would be a low risk, high reward situation for Carolina.
